![]() Michael so loved his friends and family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Michael is survived by his mother, Linda Van Buiten, and his brothers, Matthew Abbasfard and Gregory Van Buiten. A memorial service was held on October 1, 2021, in Fullerton, California. He also loved snowboarding, traveling the world, and spending time with his family and friends. While living in the DC area, Michael volunteered at a no-kill shelter, Friends of Homeless Animals. Michael recently returned to California and loved living in Huntington Beach, where he enjoyed daily walks on the boardwalk with his rescue dog Gus Gus. Michael graduated from USC's Marshall School of Business in 1999 and worked in commercial banking in Orange County and in the DC Metro area, then left banking to pursue entrepreneurial interests in Tanzania. He was Treasurer of his college fraternity and Captain of the club soccer team. Michael graduated with honors from Sunny Hills High School in 1995 and attended the University of Southern California. Michael grew up in Fullerton, California, and was a gifted student and a star soccer player. He was the first-born son of Linda Van Buiten and the late Michael Abbasfard Sr. Michael was born on December 22, 1977, in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Abbasfard, Michael Alan, 43, passed away September 18, 2021, at his home in Huntington Beach, California. ![]()
